Fintech News Network has learned through a LinkedIn post that points to a round of restructuring at BigPay, a fintech subsidiary of Capital A.
In an earlier post, Nurul Afiqah Jamaluddin from BigPay’s People & Culture team said that her team and she had been impacted by internal restructuring and that their roles were at risk.
In a later post, she said several other colleagues across the three markets had also been impacted by the recent restructuring.
The departures include high-ranking leadership and technical heads based in Singapore, notably Chief Information Security Officer Angus Thorn, Head of Backend Architecture and Platform CoE Richard C. Davis, and Head of Mobile Engineering Chong Lee Kee.
In Malaysia, the restructurings have affected Chief Product Officer Monica Millares, whose departure follows her move to the role just last year.
Fintech News independently verified that these roles were indeed impacted.
The latest development also comes after Fintech News Malaysia previously reported in January that several top BigPay executives were leaving the company, including CEO Zubin Rada Krishnan, COO Mitherpal Sidhu, Chief Growth and Commercial Officer Chris Manguera, and Chief of Staff and Head of Strategy Meirisha Berisdha and CTO Siddharth Ravichandran’s departure.
In a 30 March announcement, Capital A said that following the disposal of its aviation businesses to AirAsia X, it is now focused on growing five core businesses: Asia Digital Engineering, Teleport, AirAsia MOVE, AirAsia Next and Santan.
BigPay was not named among them.
In the same release, newly appointed Deputy CEO Effendy Shahul Hamid said he looked forward to applying his experience in financial services to “define a proposition in this space for the Group”.
At the time of writing, Fintech News Network has reached out to BigPay for comment but has yet to receive a response.
