Responsible for providing in-house legal and compliance advice in respect of all aspects of the Group's activities in Malaysia and in the ASEAN markets. This includes managing a variety of transactions of different complexities and reviewing / drafting legal documents to ensure that the companies' interests are protected and exposure to risks reduced or eliminated.
- Responsible for enforcing regulations in all aspects and levels of business as well as providing guidance on legal and compliance matters.
- Develop and oversee control systems to prevent or deal with violations of legal guidelines and internal policies.
- Evaluate the efficiency of controls and improve them continuously.
- Revise procedures, reports, etc. periodically to identify hidden risks or nonconformity issues.
- Draft, modify, and implement company legal and compliance policies.
- Assess the business's future ventures to identify possible legal and compliance risks.
- Provide legal and compliance review when necessary to identify legal and compliance issues and provide advice or training.
- Keep abreast of regulatory developments within or outside of the company as well as evolving best practices in legal and compliance control.
- Overseeing sustainability functions and reporting.
- Prepare reports for senior management and external regulatory bodies as appropriate.
- Assist in any ad-hoc tasks as and when assigned by the immediate superior.
- Proven experience as legal and compliance head.
- In-depth knowledge of the industry's standards and regulations, especially in the area of BNM, SC, Bursa and Paynet regulations.
- Must have relevant experience at a law firm or as corporate counsel focusing on compliance issues in the similar industry.
- Strong in controls and compliance and ESG enforcement.
- Sustainability knowledge and being able to drive initiative is an added advantage.
- Strong business acumen and stakeholder management skills.
- Excellent knowledge of reporting procedures and record-keeping.
- A business acumen partnered with a dedication to legality.
- Methodical and diligent with outstanding planning abilities.
- An analytical mind able to "see" the complexities of procedures and regulations.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Willing to travel with ASEAN countries when required.

Educational requirement:
Candidate must possess at least a Bachelor's Degree in LLB (Hons) or equivalent. Certified compliance professional is a plus. Certified sustainability professional is an added advantage.
