TOPPAN IDGATE, a major player in digital identity solutions, has expanded its partnership with Malaysia-based eKYC platform provider Innov8tif to strengthen digital identity solutions in the ASEAN financial sector.
TOPPAN IDGATE’s AI-driven face recognition and device binding technologies will be integrated into Innov8tif’s EMAS eKYC platform.
This collaboration aims to bolster security, regulatory compliance, and fraud detection capabilities for financial institutions across the region.
TOPPAN IDGATE’s iDenFace technology, which ranked among the Top 20 most accurate in the NIST 1:1 Face Recognition Vendor Test in 2021 and complies with ISO/IEC 30107 standards for liveness detection, will enhance Innov8tif’s full eKYC authentication stack.
iDenFace has been integrated into Innov8tif’s EMAS eKYC platform to provide a comprehensive and robust identity verification solution for banks and financial institutions.
Fresh off its recent collaboration with WeLab-owned Indonesian digital bank Bank Saqu, TOPPAN IDGATE is now focused on expanding its presence in the ASEAN financial sector.
In Malaysia, the company is working closely with Innov8tif to provide its AI-powered identity verification solutions, aiming to enhance compliance with regulatory standards set by Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) and help institutions mitigate fraud risks.
TOPPAN IDGATE’s iDenFace technology uses AI-based liveness detection to differentiate live images from video recordings, still photos, and even silicone disguises, actively preventing identity fraud.
This technology is key to enhancing Innov8tif’s fraud detection capabilities without adding significant technological overhead or processing time.
Eric Chow, Sales Vice President of TOPPAN IDGATE, said,
“iDenFace provides facial recognition and similarity cross-checking solutions for authentic identification. This system simultaneously meets regulations and reduces the cost required for manual inspections.
This makes it an ideal solution for mobile verification across a diverse range of banking services, including bank account registration and loan applications.”
Joe Seah, Chief Commercial Officer of Innov8tif Solutions Sdn Bhd, remarked,
“iDenFace is one of several biometric technologies that Innov8tif utilises to enhance its OkayFace capabilities as part of EMAS eKYC.
The integration is part of our multimodal strategy to increase the accuracy of our fraud detection and add layers of security checks — all without adding significant technological overhead and time-to-process.”
Meanwhile, TOPPAN IDGATE’s iDenKey uses device binding technology to provide a second factor for two-factor authentication, in addition to passwords.
This solution supports complete token cycle management for iPhone and compatibility for all kinds of Android devices, a key requirement in Malaysia’s BFSI space as financial institutions migrate from SMS one-time passwords (OTP) to more secure methods.
Seah added,
“TOPPAN IDGATE’s device binding solution complements EMAS eKYC very well in terms of enabling device-based authorisation amongst financial institutions.
This combination balances user convenience and account security by increasing authentication requirements if users have been found to sign into an account from a new or unknown device.”
Looking ahead, TOPPAN IDGATE plans to closely collaborate with Innov8tif’s sales network in Malaysia, leveraging their strong relationships within the local BFSI sector.
Chow noted,
“We aim to continuously support our biometric engine for the EMAS eKYC platform while promoting our iDenKey solution to the BFSI market.
Our goal is to secure three to five reference cases with Innov8tif’s assistance in the coming years.”
