The Securities Commission Malaysia (SC) has appointed seven members to its Shariah Advisory Council for the 2026 to 2029 term.
The term runs from 1 July 2026 to 30 June 2029 and includes one new appointment and six reappointments.
Senator Dato’ Setia Dr Haji Mohd Na’im Haji Mokhtar has been newly appointed to the council.
The reappointed members are Professor Dr Engku Rabiah Adawiah Engku Ali, Dato’ Dr Ashraf Md Hashim, Professor Dato’ Dr Asmadi Mohamed Naim, Dato’ Setia Dr Haji Anhar Haji Opir, Dr Marjan Muhammad and Burhanuddin Lukman.
The SC Shariah Advisory Council was established on 16 May 1996 under the Securities Commission Malaysia Act 1993.
It determines the application of Shariah principles for Islamic capital market businesses and transactions.
The council also supports the development of Malaysia’s Islamic capital market through Shariah resolutions and policy direction.

SC Chairman Dato’ Mohammad Faiz Azmi said,
“The SAC’s guidance continues to support innovation, sustainability and the long-term growth of the ICM ecosystem.
The new composition of the SAC with collective expertise and experience of its members, is well-positioned to provide robust and forward-looking guidance on Shariah matters.”
