The Securities Commission Malaysia (SC) and Bursa Malaysia held their first joint investor education fair on 5 and 6 September 2026.
The InvestSmart x Bursa Marketplace Fair 2026 took place at the Pavilion Bukit Jalil Exhibition Centre and was officiated by Treasury Secretary-General Tan Sri Johan Mahmood Merican.

Dato’ Mohammad Faiz Azmi, Chairman of SC, said,
“For many Malaysians, concerns over fraud and limited access to reliable investment information remain barriers to investing.
This first-ever collaboration aims to improve access to trusted financial information and digital investment tools, empowering more Malaysians to invest with confidence and take greater charge of their long-term financial well-being.”
He added that the SC was working with the National Scam Response Centre and Financial Education Network to strengthen investor education and financial literacy.
From January to July 2026, the SC received 1,272 enquiries from people seeking to verify investment opportunities before investing.
The enquiries accounted for 70.6% of the combined total, compared with 530 complaints from scam victims.
Younger Malaysians Drive Retail Participation
More than 342,000 new Central Depository System accounts were opened in the first half of 2026, up about 24% from the same period in 2025.
Investors aged 35 and below opened around 60% of the new accounts. Retail investors accounted for between 27% and 33% of total trading activity over the past three years.

Dato’ Fad’l Mohamed, Chief Executive Officer of Bursa Malaysia, said,
“By bringing market experts, listed companies and financial institutions under one roof, we hope to make it easier for more Malaysians to explore investment opportunities, build their knowledge and take the next step from saving to investing.
This supports our broader goal of fostering a vibrant and inclusive capital market that enables more Malaysians to participate in, and benefit from, the nation’s economic growth.”
Held under the theme “Smart Investing for Everyone”, the fair brought together up to 40 exhibitors, including regulators, financial institutions, listed companies and crowdfunding platforms.
Its programme covered investment fundamentals, stock market investing, portfolio building, market outlooks, financial planning and scam prevention.
The event also featured a Financial Education Network pavilion focused on Malaysia’s National Strategy for Financial Literacy 2026 to 2030.
An Anti-Scam Zone offered guidance on identifying scams and verifying investment opportunities, while visitors could receive free consultations from licensed financial planners through the FinPlan4u initiative.
