Public Bank released yesterday its new mobile banking app named PB Engage MY on Google Playstore and Apple App Store. The new app features a refreshed and a slightly more modern aesthetic compared to its previous iteration.
New functionality for Public Bank’s new mobile app includes PayNet’s Duit Now QR, a common QR standard which enables payments from all participating banks and e-wallets. Public Bank was the first to adopt the DuitNow QR with 33 more banks to enable it within their mobile apps soon.
While the function is made available in Public Bank’s app, there is no publicly available information indicating which or how many merchants are currently accepting the DuitNow QR.
The menu and organisation of the icons are also more streamlined compared to the previous version which was, in our view, a lot clunkier. However, the new app’s performance seems a little sluggish, it requires slight loading time as you transition from one menu to another.
This is definitely a major step up from it’s earlier version but there is certainly room for improvement. Since Public Bank didn’t formally launch or announced the new app, we imagine that they are working in the background to iron out some of these issues.
