The 6-month long programme will be hosted at Deriv’s new premises at Quill 5 building in Cyberjaya, Malaysia, starting July 2021.

A Trainee Programme for Real World Experience

“We have carefully designed and structured the curriculum to provide a holistic experience of learning IT skills through real-world scenarios. We look forward to helping talented individuals learn from our highly experienced IT teams, with wide experience in global fintech services,”

stated Shyamala Siva, Head of HR, Deriv.

BeSquare was created to provide aspiring IT professionals with a comprehensive overview of the IT industry through internships with different tech teams at Deriv. This is a great way to enhance career options for the trainees. In addition, being mentored by an international team of experts, the trainees will get just the right support and exposure to explore their passion and potential, while learning how to think out of the box.

The key advantages that the graduate programme offers are:

  • Hands-on experience, under the guidance of highly experienced tech teams.
  • Professional guidance, to help trainees establish clear career goals that will maximise their potential.
  • Exposure to a wide network of guest speakers, professionals and fellow trainees.
  • The opportunity to enhance their résumé with key tech and non-tech skills that will set the BeSquare graduates apart from their peers.

In addition, trainees will learn crucial soft skills, based on Harvard Business Review principles. With opportunities to connect with experienced professionals from the tech industry, the trainees will also get the opportunity to grow their professional network and learn from some of the brightest minds in the field.

Moreover, trainees who prove exceptional in embracing challenges from BeSquare, will receive an immediate job offer from the company, when the programme ends.

Who Can Apply for BeSquare?

The graduate trainee programme has fairly simple eligibility criteria. All applicants should be Malaysian citizens and last-term students or fresh graduates of any STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Maths) course. Proficiency in spoken and written English is also required.

Aside from this, Deriv is also looking for trainees who are ambitious and passionate about enhancing their skills in technology. Being excellent problem solvers and team players will also count in the applicant’s favour.

The applicant simply needs to fill in the online application form and complete a Self-Assessment Top grading Interview (SATI). Applicants who are shortlisted after this will be invited for an interview. Those who qualify for the interview will then receive a confirmation letter from Deriv.

The application process is open until May 31, 2021 and only 100 trainees will be admitted to the programme.

“Deriv believes in giving back to the community. The BeSquare programme is part of this ethos. We believe that providing opportunities for Malaysian students to excel at their career benefits individuals and enhances the nation’s talent pool. This in turn will attract more businesses to Malaysia,”

explained Ms. Siva.
