RHB Banking Group (RHB) is now offering Apple Pay as a payment method, enabling its customers in Malaysia to make payments using their iPhone and Apple Watch.
The bank’s Visa debit and credit cardholders, including those with the RHB Multi-Currency Visa Debit Card, can now use their cards with Apple Pay, allowing transactions in up to 33 currencies without conversion fees.
Apple Pay enables contactless payments by double-clicking the side button and authenticating with Face ID, Touch ID, or a device passcode as well as a one-time unique dynamic security code. It’s accepted in grocery stores, pharmacies, restaurants, and other retail locations.
Customers can also make purchases using Apple Pay on iPhone, iPad, and Mac in apps or on the web without needing to create accounts or re-enter shipping and billing information.
This functionality extends to apps on Apple Watch for various services such as food deliveries, online shopping, and transportation.
Apple Pay does not store card numbers on devices or Apple servers for its users’ security and privacy.
Instead, a unique Device Account Number is encrypted and securely stored in the device’s Secure Element, an industry-standard, certified chip designed to store the payment information safely on the device.
Users can add their RHB Visa cards to the Wallet app on their devices and start using Apple Pay immediately, retaining all existing rewards and benefits.
To promote this launch, RHB is offering a limited-time cashback campaign. Customers can earn up to RM30 cashback when they use their RHB card with Apple Pay for three transactions of at least RM50 each. This offer is valid until 31 July 2024, for both in-store and online purchases.
“We are excited to announce that we’re bringing Apple Pay to our customers so they can enjoy a seamless and secure digital banking experience.
This initiative aligns with our commitment to innovation and meeting the evolving needs of our customers,”
said Mohd Rashid Mohamad, Group Managing Director/Group Chief Executive Officer of RHB Banking Group.
