Fintech News Malaysia has reliably learned that Kevin Lee has stepped down from his position as the CEO of NTT DATA Payment Services Sdn Bhd (formerly known as GHL Systems Sdn Bhd).
Kevin, who has been at the helm of the company for six years, first assumed the role of CEO in January 2019. Over his tenure, he has been instrumental in driving the company’s growth and innovation across Malaysia and Indonesia.
During his time as CEO, Kevin oversaw GHL’s transformation into a key player in the region’s payment services ecosystem.
His contributions to the organisation span more than 15 years, with prior leadership roles including Head of Corporate Sales and Vice President of Mobile Payments.
Under his leadership, the company embraced digital wallets, QR payments, and mobile point-of-sale systems. Not to forget, all while fostering critical partnerships.
The exact date of his departure has not been disclosed, leaving questions about the company’s leadership transition and strategic direction.
In May last year, Japanese IT giant NTT DATA acquired a 58.7% stake in GHL Systems Berhad for RM724 million. This move strengthens NTT DATA’s presence in ASEAN by integrating GHL’s network of over 480,000 payment terminals across Malaysia, the Philippines, and Thailand.
The acquisition aims to advance cashless payments and leverage synergies with NTT DATA’s existing operations, including iPay88 in Malaysia, highlighting its commitment to enhancing payment technologies and promoting a cashless society in Southeast Asia.
Sources, however, could not confirm that the resignation and the acquisition have any direct relations between them.
