Transactions under the Rahmah Basic Contribution (SARA) programme reached RM110 million nationwide within the first two days of implementation, according to the Ministry of Finance.
More than 1.7 million recipients used their credits during the period.
On the second day alone, over 900,000 Malaysians spent RM60 million using their SARA credits.
MyKasih, which manages the system, said that it had expanded its capacity after the initial surge, enabling about 20 percent more transactions to be processed compared with the first day.
Despite the upgrade, congestion continued at several outlets, particularly large hypermarkets in urban areas during peak hours.
MyKasih staff were deployed to provide on-site support and assist merchants with transaction issues.
The launch was also marked by technical glitches with videos circulating online showing abandoned trolleys at some supermarkets.
The images drew criticism from netizens, while others sympathised with families rushing to purchase essentials.
Store staff were later seen restocking items from incomplete transactions.
The ministry advised the public to plan purchases during non-peak hours, such as weekday mornings, to avoid congestion.
The RM100 SARA credit remains valid until 31 December 2025 and can be used at more than 7,300 registered retail outlets nationwide.
