TNG Digital has appointed Datuk Syed Zaid Albar as its Chairman and Non-Independent Non-Executive Director, effective 17 October.
Datuk Syed Zaid is a senior lawyer with expertise in financial services and corporate advisory.
He co-founded Albar & Partners and has been recognised for his work in debt capital markets, equity finance, and Islamic finance.
He left legal practice in 2018 to serve as Executive Chairman of the Securities Commission Malaysia (SC) until mid-2022.
In that role, he contributed to the governance and regulatory oversight of Malaysia’s capital markets.
Domestically, he served on the BNM Financial Stability Committee and the Board of Trustees of The Financial Reporting Foundation.
Internationally, he represented SC on the board of the International Organisation of Securities Commissions (IOSCO), its Asia Pacific Regional Committee, and the ASEAN Capital Markets Forum.
Datuk Syed Zaid returned to Albar & Partners in early 2023 as a senior partner in an advisory and professional development role.
He currently chairs CIMB Group Holdings Berhad, CIMB Bank, and Touch ‘n Go, and has previously held board positions at several listed companies, including Yinson Holdings Berhad, Cycle & Carriage Bintang Berhad, Malaysian Pacific Industries Berhad, and Malaysia Building Society Berhad.
