Instapay Technologies is using Alibaba Cloud’s local cloud infrastructure in Malaysia to run its digital payroll and payments platform.
The move is intended to strengthen service reliability, meet regulatory requirements, and support the fintech’s expansion.
The infrastructure is designed to maintain uptime during periods of high transaction volumes while optimising resource use to reduce operational overhead.
It also supports faster service rollouts as Instapay scales its offerings.
Instapay provides an e-wallet and prepaid Mastercard used by employers to digitalise payroll for workers without access to traditional banking services, including migrant and blue-collar workers.
Malaysia is a major destination for migrant labour from South and Southeast Asia, making digital payroll access and remittances a core use case.
Alibaba Cloud said its Malaysia-based infrastructure is built to support regulated financial services that require high availability and data localisation.

“By utilising our secure, scalable infrastructure and cutting-edge cloud computing technologies, Instapay is empowering unbanked and underserved communities with greater access to digital financial services.
This partnership reflects not only the strength of Alibaba Cloud’s solutions, but also our commitment to enabling meaningful digital transformation that positively impacts lives and livelihoods.”
said Choong Hon Keat, General Manager of Malaysia, Alibaba Cloud Intelligence International.
Instapay Technologies uses cloud services including multi-zone load balancers and auto scaling groups, supported by Alibaba Cloud RDS for multi-zone database redundancy and Object Storage Service for file storage and backups.
The setup supports fault tolerance, service continuity, and compliance with Malaysia’s Risk Management in Technology framework.

“Our collaboration with Alibaba Cloud has been a game-changer, enabling us to close critical gaps in cybersecurity, data sovereignty, and scalability, while ensuring compliance with Malaysia’s stringent regulations like RMiT.
By leveraging Alibaba Cloud’s localised infrastructure, we’ve accelerated payment innovation, ensured service reliability during peak demand, and built a strong foundation for financial inclusion among unbanked migrant workers.”
said Rajnish Kumar, Co-founder and CEO of Instapay Technologies.
