Hata Digital has obtained Shariah certification for its digital asset platform, making it the first digital asset exchange in Malaysia to obtain the certification.
The company is licensed and regulated by the Securities Commission Malaysia as a digital asset exchange.
The certification follows a year-long review by independent Shariah adviser Amanie Advisors, which assessed Hata’s platform structure, operations and services against Shariah principles.
The review covered Hata’s Digital Broker and Exchange services, as well as the screening of digital assets offered on the platform.
It also assessed wallet services, trustee account arrangements, the treatment of unallocated deposits, staking services, fees and charges, affiliate programmes, and safeguards against non-Shariah compliant activities.
Hata processed more than RM1.04 billion in total transactions in 2025, while peak monthly fiat deposits reached RM28.7 million. It has also surpassed 218,000 users.
The company also closed a US$8 million, or about RM31.6 million, Series A funding round led by Bybit in April 2026.

David Low, Co-Founder and CEO of Hata, said the certification was a milestone for the company and Malaysia’s regulated digital asset sector.
“Today, we are proud that Hata has become the first DAX in Malaysia to obtain Shariah certification. This is a meaningful milestone for us, for our users, and for the future of regulated digital assets in Malaysia.
It reflects our commitment to building a platform that is trusted, inclusive and aligned with the values of the communities we serve.”

Suhaida Mahpot, CEO of Amanie Advisors, said,
“Following a comprehensive review, we are satisfied that the platform meets established Shariah requirements across its operations and offerings.
This achievement marks an important step forward in bridging digital assets with Shariah principles and we believe it will help build greater trust and inclusive digital asset ecosystem.”
