Malaysians can now use Semak Kasih to check whether deceased loved ones left behind family takaful or life insurance benefits.

The centralised online portal was developed by the Malaysian Takaful Association (MTA) and the Life Insurance Association of Malaysia (LIAM) under the purview of Bank Negara Malaysia.

Semak Kasih allows members of the public to check whether a deceased family member had a family takaful certificate or life insurance policy with participating takaful operators and life insurers.

The portal is intended to help families who are unsure which takaful operator or life insurer to contact after a death.

Users can create an account on the Semak Kasih portal, submit the deceased person’s identification details and upload a clear copy of the death certificate.

If a match is found, users will receive the relevant provider’s contact details for follow-up enquiries.

MTA Chief Executive Officer Mohd Radzuan Mohamed said

“Losing a loved one is never easy. Amid grief and uncertainty, many families are often left to navigate administrative and financial matters without knowing where to begin. In some cases, they may not even be aware that their loved ones had taken steps to protect them through family takaful or life insurance.

Semak Kasih was developed to provide a simple, trusted and compassionate way for families to discover and reconnect with those protection benefits, ensuring that no entitled benefit is left unnoticed.”

LIAM Chief Executive Officer Mark O’Dell said,

“During a difficult period of loss, families should not have to face unnecessary challenges in determining whether takaful or insurance coverage exists.

By bringing the industry together on a single platform, Semak Kasih helps reduce uncertainty for families during such moments.”
