Maybank has completed Malaysia’s first tokenised supply chain financing deal worth RM1 million.
The bank conducted the pilot with Virtual Economy Technology Sdn Bhd, known as V Systems, using its NexA tokenisation platform.
V Systems is a participant in the first cohort of the Securities Commission Malaysia’s regulatory sandbox, selected in November 2025 under the alternative financing track.
Syarikat Logam Unitrade Sdn Bhd, a Malaysian supplier of construction and building materials, participated in the transaction, with Maybank providing the financing.
The pilot tokenised the full process from invoice approval to disbursement and settlement in a live commercial environment.
Maybank expects the approach to make financing faster, more transparent and easier to track for buyers and suppliers.
Arvind Santhanam Prasad, Managing Director of Transaction Banking and Payments at Maybank’s Global Banking division, said,
“For MSMEs, which play a critical role in supply chains but often face persistent financing constraints, this innovation offers a practical way to unlock liquidity. Looking ahead, we see potential in tokenisation of deep-tier supply chain financing to enable seamless cross-border trade financing across ASEAN.
The initiative aligns with our ROAR30 five-year strategic plan and the aspirations of the Securities Commission’s Capital Market Masterplan 2026–2030 to drive innovation and inclusive finance through technology-enabled solutions.”

The pilot follows Maybank’s earlier projects involving Malaysia’s first tokenised sukuk and an on-chain Malaysian ringgit to Singapore dollar foreign exchange conversion and cross-border payment.
