ROOMIE has introduced an integrated payment gateway for hotels serving travellers from China, India, South Korea and Southeast Asia.
The Malaysian hospitality tech company’s gateway allows guests to pay for room bookings, room service, laundry and on-demand entertainment without leaving the hotel’s booking or chat channel.
Supported payment methods include Alipay, India’s Unified Payments Interface (UPI), Thailand’s TrueMoney and Line Pay, and the Philippines’ GCash.
According to ROOMIE, the gateway can improve conversion rates for in-hotel payments by 40%.

“ROOMIE’s latest payment gateway allows all travellers to engage in the language they are comfortable in, as well as the payment method they are familiar with.
This removes the hassle of currency conversion and letting guests pay through the platforms they already use. Our goal is to help hotels improve transaction conversion, reduce abandoned orders, and unlock more opportunities for upselling,”
said ROOMIE Chief Executive Officer CS Goh.
Orders are processed only after payment is completed, which ROOMIE claims can help hotels minimise cancellations and no-shows.
ROOMIE also provides mobile check-in and check-out services and consolidates guest communications from WhatsApp, Facebook and hotel customer relationship management systems.
The company currently works with around 100 hotels across Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam and aims to double that number over the next 12 months.
It recently secured a contract with a hotel group covering approximately 1,800 rooms.
