The Securities Commission Malaysia (SC) has put Binance back on its Investor Alert List.
In an update dated 8 October 2026, the regulator flagged the cryptocurrency exchange for operating a digital asset exchange (DAX) without registration.
Binance was the only entity added in the 8 October update. The entry identifies binance.com as the website concerned and provides no local address.
Binance first appeared on the list in July 2020, when the SC flagged the exchange for operating a recognised market without authorisation.
In July 2021, the SC publicly reprimanded Binance for continuing to operate illegally in Malaysia. The regulator ordered the exchange to disable its website and mobile apps for Malaysian users.
The SC removed Binance from the list in 2024 after determining that the company was no longer conducting regulated activities in Malaysia.
The Ministry of Finance confirmed this in a written parliamentary reply in July 2026.
The ministry responded to a question from Bagan MP Lim Guan Eng. It said the SC had not licensed or registered Binance to conduct capital market activities.
It also confirmed that the exchange’s website and app remained blocked in Malaysia.
The ministry added that the SC would continue monitoring developments. The regulator would also take action against any legal breaches or emerging risks to Malaysian investors.
