Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim inaugurated GXBank’s new initiative, GX Untuk Semua, marking the bank’s RM1.5 billion commitment to advancing Malaysia’s digital finance industry and supporting the government’s KL20 vision.
GXBank aims to transform digital banking and finance in Malaysia through this initiative.
The GX Untuk Semua initiative focuses on developing local tech talent, fostering industry best practices, and providing innovative financial solutions.
It aims to enhance financial access for the underserved through AI-based risk and fraud management solutions and personal and MSME lending options.
Additionally, the initiative will support tech entrepreneurship and the exploration of tech-based solutions for future digital finance needs.
Addressing the need for skilled tech talent, GX Untuk Semua includes early-career programmes and partnerships with local universities to nurture potential
The event was attended by notable figures including Minister of Investment, Trade, and Industry Tengku Datuk Seri Utama Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz, Minister of Digital Gobind Singh Deo, GXBank’s senior management, and representatives from Grab.
Datuk Zaiton Binti Mohd Hassan, Chairperson of GXBank said,

Since its launch as the first digital bank in Malaysia in November 2023, GXBank has leveraged Grab’s existing ecosystem to amass over 750,000 customers by July 2024.
More than 500,000 of these customers hold GX Debit Cards, and they have conducted over 13 million transactions collectively, including 9 million via card and 4 million via QR code.
The GXBank app has become one of the top three financial apps on both the App Store and Play Store, with 87% of social media sentiment being positive or neutral.
