The Securities Commission Malaysia (SC) and Khazanah Nasional have joined forces to facilitate access to capital market funding for Malaysian mid-tier companies (MTCs).
The partnership, facilitated through Khazanah’s Dana Impak Fund, aims to catalyse MTC growth and expansion with an initial funding commitment of RM500 million.
The RM500 million fund will be directed to high-potential MTCs through private equity or private credit funds, providing them with the capital needed for growth.
The collaboration will focus on initiatives to support MTCs, including capacity-building programmes and fundraising incubation for 60 to 100 companies.
These efforts aim to enhance MTCs’ competitiveness, innovative capacity, and capital market readiness.
The SC’s Elevate programme, in particular, will provide selected MTCs with the skills needed to meet fundraising requirements and boost their innovation capabilities.

SC Chairman Dato’ Mohammad Faiz Azmi said,
“We appreciate Khazanah’s support of the MSME and MTC Roadmap and SC’s long-term goal to ensure a more inclusive and holistic capital market fundraising ecosystem. MTCs are significant domestic employers and economic contributors.
However, they have been identified as the ‘missing middle’, as they often face difficulties in accessing financing for growth. This MOU will address such challenges to ensure sustainable growth and resilience.”

“One of the key pillars for Khazanah’s “A Nation that Creates” framework is in catalysing future ready industries and talents, anchored on transforming firms of different sizes to derive greater value creation, while increasing national productivity and global competitiveness.
The objective is also to establish Malaysian companies that continue to create and innovate, with persistent growth momentum and economic resilience. We look forward to our collaboration with the SC, to support MTCs to be well-positioned to contribute substantially to the nation,”
said Khazanah’s Managing Director, Dato’ Amirul Feisal Wan Zahir.
