Alibaba Cloud has unveiled its latest artificial intelligence offerings in Malaysia, including new AI models, infrastructure, and business solutions, at its inaugural AI Tech Day.
The company aims to boost local AI innovation and skills development through these advancements and strategic collaborations.
The event, attended by Deputy Minister of Digital, Datuk Wilson Ugak Anak Kumbong, highlighted Alibaba Cloud‘s efforts to support Malaysia’s AI agenda.
The company announced partnerships with YTL AI Labs, Permodalan Nasional Berhad (PNB), and HiSEVEN, demonstrating its role as a key technology partner in the region.
Alibaba Cloud introduced its Qwen2.5 series of large language models, its visual-language model Qwen2.5-VL, and an AI-powered coding assistant, designed to enhance efficiency and scalability for businesses and developers.
They also showcased AI-driven solutions for document processing, voice analysis, content creation, and business intelligence.
To support the increasing demand for AI computing, Alibaba Cloud announced the upcoming availability of its 9th Generation Enterprise Elastic Compute Service (ECS) instances in Malaysia by mid-2025, promising improved performance.
Collaborations with YTL AI Labs will focus on advancing Malay-language AI models, while the partnership with PNB aims to enhance operational efficiency and customer support through AI.
HiSEVEN will leverage Alibaba Cloud’s technology to improve AI-driven marketing solutions.
Furthermore, Alibaba Cloud launched its Malaysia AI Hackathon 2025 in partnership with Agmo Holdings Berhad, inviting local innovators to showcase their AI skills.
The program is open for local registration from 27 February until 30 April 2025, providing Malaysian talent with an opportunity to leverage cutting-edge AI technologies and compete on a global stage.
