Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) has announced a significant reshuffle in its leadership with new appointments. Aznan bin Abdul Aziz will assume the role of new Deputy Governor for a three-year term, effective April 1, 2025.
This appointment, approved by the Minister of Finance, designates Aznan to oversee the crucial supervision and regulation sector. He will also join BNM’s Board of Directors and the Monetary Policy Committee.

His involvement extends to a wide range of committees. These include those focused on reserve management, risk management, financial stability, and digital technology.
Aznan brings a wealth of experience, holding a degree in Economics and Accounting from the University of Bristol. His current roles reflect his expertise in financial governance.
This includes his tenure as Chairman of the Board Audit Committee of the International Islamic Liquidity Management Corporation and membership in the Labuan Financial Services Authority.
Additionally, his participation in international bodies like the International Association of Insurance Supervisors underscores his broad understanding of the financial landscape.
This appointment coincides with the retirement of Datuk Jessica Chew Cheng Lian. She will transition to a role as Technical Adviser on financial stability.
BNM’s Governor, Dato’ Seri Abdul Rasheed Ghaffour, expressed deep gratitude for Datuk Jessica’s 34 years of service. He acknowledges her invaluable contributions to BNM and the nation’s financial stability.

BNM also appointed Cindy Siah Hooi Hoon as Assistant Governor, filling the vacancy created by Aznan’s promotion. Cindy will be responsible for overseeing various supervisory departments, including banking, insurance, and payment services.
Her background in Prudential Financial Policy and Banking Supervision Departments, coupled with her professional qualifications as a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants and a Chartered Financial Analyst charterholder, equip her for this critical role.
