Maybank has announced a partnership with Microsoft to accelerate its digital transformation and strengthen its customer service capabilities.
The collaboration, valued at approximately RM1 billion over five years, involves the adoption of Microsoft’s cloud, AI, security, and collaboration technologies, including the upgrade of existing systems to Microsoft 365.
As part of the agreement, Maybank will utilise Microsoft Azure as one of its primary cloud platforms for key systems, data workloads, and operations.
This adoption aims to provide the bank with a scalable, secure, and resilient infrastructure to support real-time data analysis, enable faster deployment of new services, and improve operational efficiency.
The partnership also includes the rollout of Microsoft 365 Copilot to all 44,000 Maybank employees.
The AI-powered tool is designed to support staff by streamlining complex tasks and enhancing productivity.
Maybank expects this integration to facilitate internal innovation and improve customer experience and operational effectiveness.
Security remains a central focus in the partnership, with Maybank set to leverage Microsoft’s advanced cybersecurity solutions to strengthen its existing defences and ensure data protection standards are upheld.
In addition to technology deployment, the collaboration will include the potential establishment of a joint Centre of Excellence.
The centre will support both organisations in developing cloud and AI-driven solutions and in building talent within these areas.
Dato’ Sri Khairussaleh Ramli, President and Group CEO of Maybank, said:

“This strategic partnership with Microsoft is a leap forward in our digital transformation journey beyond our M25+ strategy. It’s not just about technology; it’s about thinking ahead on how we can better serve our customers, improving our ways of working, and accelerating innovations.”
Mayank Wadhwa, President of Microsoft ASEAN, commented:

“By embedding intelligence into the core of financial services, Maybank is transforming how it serves its customers while setting a powerful example for the industry across ASEAN. At Microsoft, we are committed to supporting this bold vision, one that humanises innovation, empowers people, and accelerates inclusive economic growth for the region.”
The partnership extends across Maybank’s operations in ASEAN and beyond, reinforcing the bank’s focus on digitalisation and AI adoption across the region.
