CoinGecko has announced a series of leadership changes as the crypto data provider looks to expand its operations and product capabilities.
Co-founder Bobby Ong has been appointed CEO, co-founder and former CEO TM Lee will take on the role of President, and Cedric Chan has been named Chief Technology Officer.
Ong, who previously served as Chief Operating Officer for more than a decade, helped shape CoinGecko’s business strategy, scale its operations, and expand its global presence.
The platform is now used daily by millions of users, with its crypto data API powering exchanges, wallets, and financial institutions across both web3 and traditional finance.

“TM and I started CoinGecko with a shared vision to empower the decentralized future.
It’s been a privilege to build alongside him from day one, cultivating a user-first culture rooted in transparency and integrity. These values will continue to guide us forward,”
Ong said.
As President, Lee will focus on advancing CoinGecko’s long-term product vision and lead zero-to-one research and development projects aimed at driving foundational innovation and shaping the next decade of crypto.
Chan, who joined CoinGecko in 2021 as Head of Engineering, has strengthened reliability, security, and compliance across the platform.
He also established key functions in data, site reliability, and software testing, supporting the company’s technical scale-up.
Under his leadership, CoinGecko’s API surpassed 677 billion requests over the past year, with thousands of customers onboarded.
As CTO, he will oversee the company’s technical roadmap, forge technology partnerships, integrate AI into operations, and design next-generation scalable data systems for real-time crypto data.
Meanwhile, Xingyi Ho has been named Head of Product, transitioning from his role as Head of Growth.
Since joining in 2022, Ho has built new functions in product growth, analytics, marketing, and SEO.
He will now lead product strategy and ensure the roadmap stays aligned with user needs.
