Bank Islam Malaysia Berhad has announced the appointment of YM Raja Datin Paduka Teh Maimunah Raja Abdul Aziz as its new Group Chief Executive Officer, effective 1 April 2026.

She replaces Dato’ Mohd Muazzam Mohamed, who retired in December 2025 after a decade with the Group.

Raja Teh Maimunah brings 30 years of experience in the financial sector to the role.

She previously left her role as the founding CEO of AEON Bank (M) Bhd, where she oversaw the launch of the first Islamic digital bank in Malaysia.

Raja Teh Maimunah previously held high-level positions at several major financial institutions, including AmBank Group and Hong Leong Islamic Bank.

Additionally, she pioneered the world’s first Shariah-compliant commodity trading platform during her time at Bursa Malaysia.

Bank Islam Chairman Tan Sri Dr Ismail Haji Bakar stated,

“Her proven leadership in Islamic finance and digital innovation aligns perfectly with our strategic aspirations and expectations”.

He added that the Board is confident she will help the Group strengthen its market position and drive innovation.

Bank Islam expects Raja Teh Maimunah to drive its next phase of growth by focusing on digital adoption and operational excellence in her new capacity.

She is also a certified Fellow of the Chartered Banker Institute and a Chartered Professional in Islamic Finance.

Bank Islam remains the first publicly listed pure-play Islamic bank in Malaysia, operating over 100 branches nationwide.
