Bank Islam has added former Malaysian Institute of Accountants CEO Dr Nurmazilah Dato’ Mahzan to its board.
Her appointment as Independent Non-Executive Director took effect on 7 May 2026.
Dr Nurmazilah has served on the board of BIMB Securities Sdn Bhd, a Bank Islam subsidiary, since August 2025.
She also sits on the boards of Perbadanan Wakaf Selangor and Malaysia Professional Accountancy.
She was previously on the board of TH Plantations Berhad and its subsidiaries.
Her other past roles include Board Member of CIMB Bank Berhad and Authority Member of the Sustainable Energy Development Authority.
Dr Nurmazilah began her career in audit and consultancy with Arthur Andersen & Co. in Kuala Lumpur before moving into corporate accounting at KUB Malaysia Berhad.
She later spent more than a decade at Universiti Malaya, specialising in auditing, financial reporting and corporate governance.
At the Malaysian Institute of Accountants, she served as Deputy CEO and later CEO, overseeing operational, regulatory and professional functions.
Since 2015, she has supported the implementation of integrated reporting across organisations and conducted training on sustainability, governance, risk and control, and financial reporting.
Her credentials include Certified Internal Auditor, Certified Public Accountant, Chartered Global Management Accountant, Certified ESG Analyst, and Certified Risk Management and Assurance qualification.
