Malaysia Blockchain Week (MYBW) 2026 has apologised via its LinkedIn post after Malaysian social media users criticised its decision to book DJ and influencer Ms Pui Yi for the event’s official after-party.
The backlash surfaced days before the two-day conference, which runs from 29 to 30 July at the World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur.
ACTIV8 will organise MYBW 2026 and has scheduled the after-party for 30 July at ING Live KL, with promotional material advertising a “special guest DJ set by Ms Pui Yi.”
MYBW lists access to the official after-party among the benefits for pass holders, subject to capacity.
Some Malaysian social media users questioned whether the booking suited a Malaysian Web3 event.
Malaysian crypto page Bicara Krypto raised the issue in a Facebook post centred on the government connection, drawing more than 1,200 reactions and 500 shares in a screenshot.
Ms Pui Yi, whose legal name is Siew Pui Yi, built her early career on OnlyFans before shifting toward music and entertainment. She said in April 2025 that she had removed all adult content from the platform.
MYBW Responds to After-Party Backlash
MYBW apologised for the concern caused in a LinkedIn statement, saying it remained committed to the professionalism, integrity and values expected of the event.
Noelle Lee, Managing Partner of ACTIV8, said separately in a LinkedIn post that organisers would stay focused on delivering an event grounded in professionalism, integrity and genuine value for the country’s Web3 and digital economy ecosystem.
MDEC issued its own clarification on LinkedIn, stating that neither the Ministry of Digital nor the agency had been involved in planning, approving, or promoting the after-party, including the choice of performer.
MDEC said it had withdrawn its support for MYBW 2026 altogether and had directed organisers to remove all references to the ministry, the agency, and the minister from event materials.
The agency added that MYBW’s earlier statement thanking it for “continued support” no longer reflected their relationship, and that any suggestion the ministry or MDEC had endorsed the after-party was inaccurate.
Neither statement named Ms Pui Yi directly or confirmed whether organisers had cancelled her appearance.
MYBW 2026 will proceed as planned, bringing together blockchain companies, investors, developers and policymakers for two days of discussions on digital assets and Web3.
