Appasia Capital has filed a civil suit naming eight Kuala Lumpur Football Association (KLFA) office bearers over an alleged loan used to pay players’ salaries in 2022.
Court documents reviewed by The Edge show that the licensed money lender filed the case on 16 May 2025 and is claiming RM1,044,283.35.
Appasia alleges that it agreed to provide KLFA with an unsecured RM1 million loan at annual interest of 8.4%.
KLFA later obtained another RM250,000 and paid a total of RM406,000 by 31 January 2025, according to the claim.
Current Officials Seek to Strike Out Suit
The defendants have applied to strike out the case, arguing that the loan predates their tenure.
Their defence states that former KLFA president Khalid Samad and association representative Toh Hong Chye signed a personal bond linked to the loan, while Stanley Bernard Stephen Samuel provided a personal guarantee.
The defendants argue that Appasia should also have brought proceedings against the three men.
Appasia is seeking the amount claimed together with interest.
Alternatively, it has requested restitution of RM960,000 with annual interest of 18% from 15 January 2025 until judgment, as well as legal costs.
The strike-out application is fixed for hearing before Judicial Commissioner Marianne Antoinette Ghani on 17 September 2026.
