Bank Simpanan Nasional (BSN) has named Dato’ Sri Dr. Zukri Samat as its new Chairman, effective 12 October 2026.
Zukri brings experience in banking, Islamic banking, asset management and public institutions.
He most recently served as Chairman of Perbadanan Insurans Deposit Malaysia (PIDM), Malaysia’s deposit insurance agency, from November 2023 to October 2025.
His previous roles include Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Lembaga Tabung Haji and Managing Director of Bank Islam Malaysia Berhad.
He was also Managing Director of Pengurusan Danaharta Nasional Berhad, where he was involved in financial restructuring and recovery efforts during the Asian Financial Crisis.
His other appointments include serving on the board of Lembaga Hasil Dalam Negeri and chairing the Islamic Banking and Finance Institute Malaysia (IBFIM).
Zukri has also served as Director and Executive Committee Member of the Asian Institute of Finance and as a Member of Majlis Agama Islam Wilayah Persekutuan (MAIWP).
He said,

I look forward to working with the board and management to deepen financial inclusion, accelerate digital transformation and embed sustainability in how the Bank serves its customers, while upholding the highest standards of governance.”
Zukri succeeds Dato’ Seri Dr. Awang Adek Hussin, who is concluding his tenure after more than two years as Chairman.
Awang Adek was appointed on 1 July 2024. During his tenure, BSN expanded its reach and digital capabilities while pursuing financial inclusion and sustainability initiatives.
