Payments Network Malaysia (PayNet) announces the launch of ‘MY TouristPay App’, an application designed to facilitate seamless payments for tourists in Malaysia. This app allows international travellers to make payments using the DuitNow QR network without needing a Malaysian bank account.
The app supports over 1.9 million touchpoints within the DuitNow QR network and is part of PayNet’s broader strategy to promote sustainable community development through digital payments.
Unveiled at Pelangi Beach Resort & Spa, Langkawi, this launch marks the second phase of the PayNet Cambah Langkawi project, aimed at digitising local businesses for the global digital economy.
‘MY TouristPay’ by PayNet, accessible through the Google Play Store and Apple App Store, lets tourists add Mastercard or Visa credit/debit card details and scan DuitNow QR codes for transactions.
This initiative is set to enhance the shopping experience for tourists, particularly in non-urban areas, and support the growth of small businesses across Malaysia.
Farhan Ahmad, Group CEO of PayNet, commented:
“MY TouristPay will revolutionise the way tourists experience Malaysia, especially in non-urban areas where cash and QR are the only ways to pay. By facilitating seamless transactions in these locales, we’re not just enhancing the travel experience but also contributing significantly to local economies. This approach aligns perfectly with sustainable tourism, where the focus is on authentic experiences and community upliftment.”
