CIMB Group Holdings has announced the appointment of Novan Amirudin as its new Group Chief Executive Officer. This follows the departure of Dato’ Abdul Rahman Ahmad on 30 June 2024.
Novan Amirudin, who currently serves as Co-Chief Executive Officer of Group Wholesale Banking and CEO of CIMB Investment Bank, will step into his new role, effective 1 July 2024.
Since joining CIMB in 2022, Novan has led significant transformations within the group’s wholesale banking sector, implementing a new operating model.
He has also played a key role in the group’s re-entry into the public equities business through the acquisition and relaunch of CIMB Securities.
A chartered accountant with over 20 years of experience in banking and advisory roles across Malaysia, Indonesia, and Singapore, Novan previously spent nearly 16 years at J.P. Morgan, where he last held the position of Head of Equity Capital Markets for Southeast Asia and Head of Investment Banking for Malaysia.
He began his career with PwC, specialising in Corporate Finance advisory.
In support of Novan’s leadership, CIMB has also appointed Gurdip Singh Sidhu as CEO of CIMB Bank and Malaysia.
Gurdip, who has been with CIMB for nearly 18 years in various senior roles and currently serves as Chief Operating and People Officer for the group, will focus on the day-to-day management and strategic priorities of CIMB’s operations in Malaysia, aiming to drive growth and innovation.
