Malaysia’s scholarship provider Yayasan Khazanah has renewed its partnership with Payments Network Malaysia (PayNet) to continue the Wakalah PayNet-Yayasan Khazanah Scholarship Programme.
This collaboration aims to support high-achieving Malaysian Muslim B40 students in their undergraduate studies in fields such as Information Technology, Computer Science, and Finance at approved local universities.
The initiative is funded through PayNet’s Wakalah allocation from corporate zakat proceedings, as PayNet works towards enhancing social mobility through education for underprivileged asnaf communities.
Established in 2006 by Khazanah Nasional Berhad and partnering with Yayasan Hasanah, Yayasan Khazanah has awarded scholarships to 1,495 outstanding students across various fields since its inception.

Siti Kamariah Ahmad Subki, Managing Director of Yayasan Hasanah, shared,
“As the country makes strides in the digitalisation of industries such as the financial sector, this partnership is timely and supports our commitment in nurturing future-ready talents and leaders towards advancing Malaysia.
We are pleased to be providing scholarship opportunities that meaningfully supports the youth’s aspirations, while meeting talent demands of the country’s growing sectors.”

Firdaus Ghani, Senior Director, Government Digitalisation Division, PayNet said,
“Through this partnership, PayNet is committed to ensure that deserving students regardless of social background are given equal access to education to improve their future livelihoods and contribute to the nation.
We hope that one day these high achieving scholars also find an opportunity to develop the digital payments industry together with PayNet or even with our other business partners in the financial ecosystem.”
PayNet, in collaboration with Fintech News Malaysia, will be hosting the “Revolutionizing E-Payments: Fintechs as Catalysts for Financial Inclusion” webinar on 26 June 2024. Register here.
