Equinix, a global data center, has announced an RM23 million (approximately US$5 million) investment to acquire land in Cyberjaya, expanding its data center capacity in Malaysia.
This expansion follows the establishment of its International Business Exchange (IBX) data centers in Kuala Lumpur (KL1) and Johor (JH1), aiming to meet the growing demand for data center services in Malaysia and Southeast Asia.
The newly acquired land in Cyberjaya, located near the existing KL1 facility, spans 14,300 square meters.
This addition will bolster Equinix‘s infrastructure to support a diverse range of network and cloud service providers, as well as enterprises across various sectors.
Equinix’s presence in Malaysia includes two data centers: JH1 and KL1. JH1 houses 500 cabinets within 1,960 square meters of colocation space, while KL1 is set to accommodate 900 cabinets over 2,630 square meters.
These facilities serve as hubs for numerous companies in the network, content, fintech, gaming, and AI sectors.
In the Asia-Pacific region, Equinix operates 56 data centers in key cities, with a global network of 260 data centers across 71 metropolitan areas.
This extensive infrastructure supports over 10,000 businesses worldwide.

Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari, Chief Minister of Selangor, participated in the document exchange ceremony between Equinix and Cyberview. He said,
“Selangor aims to accelerate the pace of digitising our economy, and data centers are a key component of the digital economy backbone.
Equinix’s investment, renowned for its global expertise in building resilient digital infrastructure and fostering a robust network ecosystem, is poised to contribute significantly to the adoption of cloud technology by Malaysian companies.”
