Maybank has announced the appointment of Mohamed Rezwan Abdullah Ismail as its Group Chief Risk Officer, effective 8 August 2024.
Mohamed Rezwan will lead the bank’s enterprise-wide risk management framework, ensuring the identification, management, and mitigation of risks in line with Maybank Group’s strategic and business objectives.
He will report directly to the President and Group Chief Executive Officer and will be a member of the Group Executive Committee.
Mohamed Rezwan will take over from Datuk Hamzah Bachee, who is retiring after nearly 36 years with Maybank.
With a banking career spanning over 25 years, including his current role as Deputy Group CRO, Mohamed Rezwan has been instrumental in transforming critical risk functions and aligning the bank’s risk management practices with regulatory and business requirements.
He has enhanced risk identification and measurement, embedded climate risk management, and implemented the revised Basel III framework.
Mohamed Rezwan’s extensive experience includes 19 years at Bank Negara Malaysia, where he last served as Director of Financial Conglomerates Supervision.
He has also held roles as Chief Risk and Compliance Officer at Lembaga Tabung Haji and Bank Muamalat Malaysia Berhad before joining Maybank Group in 2023 as Chief Risk and Compliance Officer of Etiqa International Holdings.
