Maybank and TikTok Shop Malaysia are set to launch the ASEAN SME Upskilling and Digitalisation Programme, aiming to enhance digital adoption among SMEs across the region, according to Bernama.
The pilot programme, set to roll out in Malaysia next month, will provide SMEs with access to webinars, workshops, and a six-month accelerator plan to strengthen their digital capabilities.

Maybank’s Group Chief Executive Officer of Community Financial Services, Syed Ahmad Taufik Albar, stated that the initiative will equip entrepreneurs with practical experience in adopting digital solutions, leveraging content-driven e-commerce, and optimising account management techniques.
He added that these elements are crucial for SMEs to future-proof their businesses and sustain long-term growth.
As part of the first phase, Maybank will prioritise women entrepreneurs under its HERpower initiative.
Currently, women-led SMEs represent 20% of the sector in Malaysia but continue to face barriers in securing funding and scaling their businesses.
The bank aims to increase this share to at least 25% by 2026 through targeted financial solutions, mentorship, and business development support.

TikTok Shop Malaysia’s Director of Strategic Partnerships, Nur Azre Abdul Aziz, emphasised that the platform is taking both a qualitative and quantitative approach to SME development.
Beyond increasing traffic and social media exposure, TikTok Shop will provide businesses with resources to scale from local to regional markets.
She highlighted that some SMEs, initially operating from night markets, have successfully transitioned to online sales, expanded into physical stores, and gained visibility at major regional business events such as the ASEAN Investment and Business Summit.
