The Securities Commission Malaysia (SC) has announced the appointment of Dato’ Seri Ahmad Johan Mohammad Raslan as the non-executive Chairman of its Audit Oversight Board (AOB), effective 5 January 2026.
Dato’ Seri Johan joined the AOB as a non-executive member in December 2020 and the Board later redesignated him as non-executive Chairman.
He succeeds Tan Sri Abu Samah Nordin, who completed his two-year term as the AOB’s non-executive Chairman on 4 January 2026.
Dato’ Seri Johan brings extensive experience across the corporate and public sectors, with a background in audit, governance and financial oversight.
He previously served as Executive Chairman of PwC Malaysia from 2004 to 2012.
His past roles include Chairman of the Financial Reporting Foundation, member of Bank Negara Malaysia’s Financial Stability Executive Committee, and member of the International Advisory Panel of the Labuan Financial Services Authority.
He contributed to the development of corporate governance frameworks in Malaysia, including the introduction of the first Malaysian Code on Corporate Governance in 2000 and its subsequent revisions.
Dato’ Seri Johan currently serves as an Independent Non-Executive Director of Sime Darby Property Berhad and YTL Digital Bank Berhad, and is a board member of the Institute of Corporate Directors Malaysia.
The SC stated that it expects the AOB to continue its audit oversight responsibilities under Dato’ Seri Johan’s chairmanship, in support of maintaining confidence in Malaysia’s capital market.
