Bank Islam Malaysia has clarified that its Be U digital banking app is being folded into BIMB Mobile rather than discontinued as a digital initiative.
The clarification follows an earlier report that Be U will be retired on 31 July 2026, with customers moved to Bank Islam’s main BIMB Mobile platform.
Bank Islam stopped accepting new Be U registrations in April 2026.
Bank Islam Group CEO YM Raja Datin Paduka Teh Maimunah Raja Abdul Aziz described Be U as a completed digital incubation project for the bank.
The app was reportedly built as a cloud-native digital banking platform to test new architecture, digital features and customer journeys outside legacy system constraints.
Bank Islam to Move Be U App Capabilities into BIMB Mobile
Those capabilities and learnings will now be embedded into BIMB Mobile, which serves as Bank Islam’s primary digital banking platform.
According to Raja Teh, maintaining two parallel platforms was no longer optimal as it could fragment the customer experience, duplicate costs and slow the bank’s ability to scale tested features.

“Be U is not being discontinued, it has successfully completed its role as a digital incubator.
We are now integrating its cloud-native capabilities into BIMB Mobile to scale those innovations across the bank and deliver a stronger, unified digital platform.”
Raja Teh said.
She described the move as a shift from “experimentation to industrialisation”, with Be U’s underlying technology absorbed into a broader digital platform.
From 1 August 2026, Be U customers will be able to continue their banking activities through BIMB Mobile.
The Be U Visa Debit Card-i will no longer be active after 31 July 2026.
Customers have been advised to unlink the card from subscriptions or recurring payments and download their account statements before the service ends.
