Khazanah Appoints Datuk Hisham Hamdan as New Chief Investment Officer

Khazanah Nasional Berhad, the sovereign wealth fund of Malaysia, announced that Datuk Hisham Hamdan has been appointed as the new Chief Investment Officer (CIO), effective 6 March 2024.

Datuk Hisham Hamdan, who has been with Khazanah since April 2011, previously held senior roles at Sime Darby Berhad and brings a wealth of experience in various sectors including healthcare, energy, utilities, and strategic development in China.

This strategic move aims to enhance Khazanah’s capabilities as an investment institution and creating new capacity and competencies.

In addition to his new role as CIO, Datuk Hisham continues to serve as Chairman of UEM Sunrise and on the Board of Trustees for the Khazanah Research Institute.

Dato’ Amirul Feisal Wan Zahir, Khazanah’s Managing Director said,

Khazanah has begun actively invested in fintech companies, notably leading PolicyStreet’s Series B funding round with a RM67 million (US$15.3 million) investment, and contributing an undisclosed sum to the SME digital financing platform Funding Societies.
