Grab Malaysia has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) to support the digitalisation of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in the country.
The partnership falls under MDEC’s Business Digitalisation Initiative, which aims to drive inclusive economic growth through greater technology adoption.
The collaboration reflects Grab’s commitment to helping MSMEs grow by leveraging digital tools.
The company said that over 500,000 newly registered MSMEs across Southeast Asia gained access to consumers through its platform in 2023.
In Malaysia, Grab’s merchant-partners contributed RM4.2 billion to the country’s GDP last year, according to a study by EconWorks.
The company also highlighted that its GrabMerchant app offers insights into customer behaviour and business performance, helping merchants make informed decisions and reach more customers.

Adelene Foo, Managing Director of Grab Malaysia, said,
“At Grab, we have been committed to empowering MSMEs with the right tools, insights, and financial solutions to scale sustainably. Through this collaboration with MDEC, we look forward to further strengthening these efforts and reaching even more MSMEs across Malaysia, helping them grow and thrive in the digital economy.
The MoU marks another step forward in Grab’s ongoing efforts to support local businesses, and we look forward to working closely with MDEC and other like-minded partners to contribute to the nation’s development and ensuring that more Malaysians can benefit from the digital economy”.
