Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) has appointed Ganesh Kumar Bangah as its new chairman.
Ganesh was an independent director at MDEC from February 2025 before taking on the chairman role in June 2026.
He is the founder and executive chairman of Commerce.Asia, and also serves as chairman of Xamble Group and independent director at Payments Network Malaysia (PayNet).
Ganesh has held several roles in Malaysia’s technology sector, including as co-founder of MOL AccessPortal, which later became part of MOL Global. He was also involved in Friendster after its acquisition by MOL.
He previously served as chairman of PIKOM, the National Tech Association of Malaysia, and was a board member of the Malaysian Global Innovation and Creativity Centre.
MDEC said his experience in technology, business and public-private sector work would support the agency’s role in Malaysia’s digital economy agenda.
