Fintech News Malaysia has announced the finalists for the inaugural Fintech Frontiers Awards Malaysia, with top leaders and startups competing for recognition in 11 categories.
The awards are divided into two categories: overall and vertical. The overall categories recognize the achievements of individuals and companies that have made significant contributions to the fintech ecosystem as a whole.
Meanwhile, the vertical categories recognize the achievements of individuals and companies that have made significant contributions to specific areas of the fintech industry, such as payments, wealth management, ESG, insurance, and lending.
During the first phase of the awards, Fintech News had invited nominations from eligible fintech companies and stakeholders to submit their applications. They could either self-nominate or be nominated by other individuals or organisations.
Following that, the awards moved towards the voting phase where the public were given the opportunity to vote for the 11 categories. Strict measures were taken to ensure that one person is only entitled to a single vote to ensure fairness of the voting process.
After a month-long public voting that ended on 25 August 2023, a panel of expert judges will score the finalists based on a set of criteria, and the finalist with the highest score will be the winner of the category.
The winners will then be announced at the awards ceremony on 4 October 2023 at the Dome @ Boathouse, Kuala Lumpur.
The awards are intended to provide recognition to deserving players within the fintech space who are creating meaningful impact within Malaysian society, developing innovative technology, or show great promise to expand within the region and beyond.
By doing so, Malaysia’s standing within the international fintech community is elevated, and promising startups are given the opportunity to attract more venture capital (VC) and investor attention.
