Overview of the carefully curated sessions

A New Challenger Appears: Progress on Malaysia’s Digibanks – To set the stage, a panel discussion featuring four of Malaysia’s five digital bank licensees will kickstart the conference. With Grab’s GXBank receiving the green light from Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) to initiate operations, the competition is heating up. Vincent Fong, Chief Editor of Fintech News Network, will moderate the discussion, offering insights into the future plans and strategies of these digibank players.

Start, Scale, Repeat: The Second Startup Journey – This session addresses one of the key challenges faced by fintech founders: knowing when it’s time to move on from their first company. Liew Ooi Hann will draw from his own experience, guiding us through his journey from Jirnexu to Malaysia’s first licensed digital asset fund manager, Halogen Capital.

What to Expect from Malaysia New Digital Insurance Licenses? – With the potential issuance of up to five digital insurance and takaful operator (DITO) licenses by BNM in 2023, this session explores the significant breakthrough this could represent for the large population of underinsured Malaysians and the vast majority of small and medium businesses lacking adequate coverage.

Breaking Malaysian Fintechs’ Series B Barrier – This panel aims to uncover the reasons behind the struggle of many local fintech companies to progress beyond Series B funding rounds. Investors will offer their perspectives on the strategies these fintechs can employ to surmount this growth and scalability barrier, providing practical advice and actionable insights for local fintech entrepreneurs.
